Product & Ingredients

What are your candles made of?

All Urban Candle Co. candles are hand-poured using 100% soy wax sourced from U.S. farms, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and lead-free cotton wicks. We make everything in small batches in St. Louis, Missouri to ensure quality and clean burning.

Are your candles non-toxic?

Yes, our candles are toxin free. We intentionally avoid paraffin and phthalates and use materials widely considered safer alternatives. Our fragrance oils comply with Prop 65 standards and are formulated for home fragrance use.

Are your candles vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Our candles contain no animal-derived ingredients and are never tested on animals.

Why does my soy candle look different than others I’ve had?

Soy wax is a natural material and can develop frosting, subtle texture changes, or color variation. These are normal characteristics of clean, plant-based wax and do not affect burn quality or scent.

Candle Care & Performance

How do I get the best burn from my candle?
  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn
  • Allow the wax to melt fully to the edges on the first burn
  • Do not burn for more than 3–4 hours at a time
  • Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts
  • Never leave a candle unattended
Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling usually happens when the first burn is too short. If this happens, letting the candle burn long enough to melt the full surface (or carefully using foil to guide heat outward) can help reset the wax.

How strong is the scent throw?

Our candles are designed to fill a room. We focus on warm, balanced scent throws that feel lived-in and inviting rather than artificial.

How long will my candle burn?

Burn time varies by size, but most of our candles burn approximately 60 when cared for properly.

Orders & Shipping

How long will my order take to ship?

Orders typically ship within 3–5 business days. During peak seasons (holidays, sales, or fundraisers), processing times may be longer. We’re a small team and appreciate your patience during busy periods.

I didn’t receive an order confirmation. What should I do?

Please check your spam or promotions folder first. If you still don’t see it, email us and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I change or cancelmy order?

If you need to make a change, please email us as soon as possible. We can accommodate changes if your order hasn’t shipped yet. Once an order has shipped, changes may not be possible.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we primarily ship within the United States. Shipping availability may change seasonally.

Will my candle melt during shipping in summer?

We package candles carefully, but extreme heat during transit can cause softening. If your candle arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days and we’ll make it right.

Returns & Issues

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Due to the nature of candles, all sales are final. However, if your order arrives damaged orincorrect, please email us within 7 days of delivery with photos and we’ll gladly assist.

Gifting

Are your candles good for gifting?

Of course! Our candles are designed to feel thoughtful, nostalgic, and special — perfect for birthdays, thank-yous, housewarmings, and holidays.

Can I ship a candle directly to someone else?

Yes! Just enter their shipping address at checkout, and if it’s intended to be a gift please indicate this at checkout.

In-Store Events

Do you offer private candle making parties?

Yes! We offer private parties for groups of six or more. Our maximum amount of guests is 25. Send us an email with your desired gathering date and size.

Do you offer individual sign up classes?

We do! These will be announced on our Instagram, and sign ups will be available on our In-store events page.

Local Pickup & Studio

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes. Local pickup is available in St. Louis. You’ll receive an email when your order is ready with pickup instructions.

Can I shop in person?

Absolutely! We have a retail store in the lovely SOHA neighborhood in St. Louis at 4920 Hampton Ave.

Wholesale, Fundraising & Custom Orders

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes! We partner with boutiques, retailers, and more direct wholesalers. Please visit our Wholesale page or fill out our form.

Do you offer fundraising candles?

Yes, fundraising is a core part of Urban Candle Co. We work with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to create candles that give back $10 for every candle sold. Visit our Fundraising page or email us to learn more.

Do you offer custom or private label candles?

We do offer limited custom and private label projects for orders of 24 or more. Please email us with details about your project, quantity, and timeline.
